WEEK 5: JOURNALIST ROLE #soyer1718
Welcome dear readers one time more in this new week in
our blog. I am Maravillas Álvarez Sánchez, and this week I am the journalist,
so I am going to tell you that we are doing, and we are learning in this lovely
week. This week we have the next roles:
-Yassín: Facilitator.
-María José: Star and Translator.
-Diego: Star and Translator.
-Lola: Curator-Former.
-Roberto: Analyst.
-Maravillas: Journalist.
This fifth week seems to be so hard, because we have
to do several tasks and expositions, but I know that Universal teachers and the
rest of the groups can successfully overcome it.
After the explanation of out teacher, our group
started to work with the new roles of the week. First of all, Yassín the facilitator
divided the work in pairs in order to make the task easier. Diego and María
José were working in the comparison of the countries and the exposition,
because this week they are the stars of the group. Yassín and Roberto were
doing the table of the different map projections. Finally Lola and I were
looking for a Treasure Hunt on Internet.
On Monday, a new task called: “Treasure Hunt:
Cartographic projections”, was explained by our teacher in class. She started
introducing us some concepts, like Treasure Hunt and Webquest. To understand
better the meaning of these concepts, we have to find a Treasure Hunt on
Internet, and explain why we have chosen it. In a Treasure Hunt students have
to look for answers to some questions in the content of the links selected
before by the teacher, and sometimes it includes a global question.
Furthermore we have to explain and compare with a
table the different map projections (Robinson, Mercator and Azimuthal), and
finally once finished this analysis, we have to choose two countries (one from
Europe and one from a different continent) and compare them.
The objective of this task is to understand the
importance of the media and the impact that has in the society. Children cannot
separate the reality what they imagine, an example of this is maps, where all
the continents in a limited space and this area are not a representation of the
reality. Therefore this effect can have a big impact in the mind of children.
Our group has put the example of how advertising can
change our perception. Our advertising is about a brand of detergent, and in
the advertisement a message can be perceived machist towards the woman.
The work in group has been very good, because all of
them had the tasks so clear and we don’t have any argument. I only have to
emphasize that we had a difficulty with the Treasure Hunt because initially we
did not understand completely the task, but our facilitator Yassín solved the
small problem. We have to read better the instructions!! (We have learned the
lection).
Every day in class all my classmates and I learn
better how to do a good presentation and how to do an effective work in groups.
This was seen on Wednesday, because the stars of the groups did an excellent work,
doing creative expositions, well done!
I hope you enjoy reading it. Write in the comments any
doubt or question that you have, we will very grateful of answers all your
comments. Thank you so much, and continue with this excellent work that you show
us every week.
