WEEK 4: Story of the week: How to do a good presentation #soyer1718
Welcome to a new week in our blog. This week, as
the rest of them in the future, we have changed the roles of the group’s
member. Now the roles are:
v Roberto as the curator farmer
v Lola as the facilitator
v Mavi as the analyst
v Yassín as the star
v Maria Jose as the translator
v Diego as the journalist
So, as you will have supposed, this week I
(Diego) am going to be in charge of the blog, so I hope all of you enjoy
reading it. So, let’s go with the story!
This fourth week seems to be ‘’funny’’ as
we don’t have a diversity teacher yet, at least we have some free hours to work
in other subjects. This Monday we have started with educational psychology and
in my opinion, it has been an average class as there is nothing relevant to
tell about it.
After that class, we have had the BEST
CLASS EVER, THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE, THE PIAGET OF THE CLASSES IN THE
UNIVERSITY: SCHOOLAR ORGANIZATION (actually this is an excessive description of
it but I like literary resources so I am going to leave it that way)To begin with, the teacher came to class
and she started to explain us what was the task for us to develop this week and
it is: How to make a presentation. The task consists of making two presentations: one of them is
about every topic we like (taking into account that we had to do it as if we
will present it to children between 6 and 12 years old) and our group have
chosen the use of social networks and its risks, and the other one is about how
to do a proper presentation (steps, keys, common mistakes,...) and also the
Creative Commons Licence resource and how to use it.
After the explanation given by the teacher, our group started
working on the task with our new roles for this week. So first of all, Lola the
facilitator, divided the work in pairs in order to develop it better: Roberto
and Mª Jose were in charge of the presentation about copyright, Lola and Yassin
were in charge of the presentation about the topic we chose that on Wednesday,
Yassin (the star) will have to expose in front of all, and last but not least,
Mavi and me, we were in charge of searching information (web pages, books,
magazines) about our task and make a brief review of all of this information, and
after this, Yassin and Lola will use this information to construct the
presentation which I remind, it is about the social networks and its risks.![]()
Among the amount of information Mavi and me
were looking to define and clarify the risk of social networks on children, we
found a very interesting article from the Spanish newspaper ‘’ABC’’ about how
children use social networks, comparing many statistics and carrying out many
interviews to children ranging from 8 to 16 years old. Here it is the link of
the article, so you can read it: http://www.abc.es/tecnologia/redes/abci-adictos-redes-sociales-y-vulnerables-ninos-espanoles-internet-201607230306_noticia.html
Talking about social networks, the whole group decided to check the other groups’ social networks to see how they were working and the roles of its members and we were very surprised for the great and fantastic work they are doing, uploading many funny pictures with the roles as well.
To conclude with that wonderful day, as you will have supposed, we weren’t working all the time, there were some times where we were joking and laughing, but far from disturb us, these distractions are good to join the team together and make us a better group.

To start the presentations, the teacher chose, between the curator-farmers, the youngest one. So the first group to present was ‘’Fireproofessors’’ and the last one, our group ‘’Universal teachers’’ (thank you Roberto). So, one by one, all the starts presented the work of their own group.

To begin with, I have to say that I think the topics chosen by the other groups were very interesting, for example: water, instruments, warm’s life cycle, the UK, lines,... All of them, in my opinion were very well presented and made me pay attention all the time (although I am a bit distracted sometimes). Here you can see some pictures about the presentations.

*Before going on, I would like to comment the steps that the teacher gave us for future presentations in order to make them better and proper, for example: to use informative backgrounds, make our presentations more visual with less sentences of information, make a better connections between ideas, to reference all the images we use in our presentations, ...
After this little aside, I would like to comment two of the presentations exposed on Wednesday: The one from ‘’Teacher’s team’’ and the one from my group ‘’Universal Teachers’’.
Teacher’s
team
Congratulations for your
presentation Teacher’s Team. Your idea of making a theatre play to explain and
develop your topic is very original and funny. I remember how we were all
laughing with this wonderful story of
the warm that finally become a beautiful butterfly. As everything, it is true
that it is not perfect, actually nothing is perfect, but I think that this one
is the most close one to the perfection.
Universal
Teachers
What can I say about
Yassin? What can I say that no one knows yet? You exposed very well our
presentation, you developed perfectly the topic, and you get to combine all the
ideas that we were discussing on Monday about the topic into a wonderful and deep
speech, although I know you were very nervous for all the times you said that
to me.
I will break the seriousness of this post
to say that you shine on this, I am so happy and proud not only of being your
partner and being in the same group as you, but also of having met you.
(Standing up: big applause)
Congratulations!
I would like no to say this, but this is the end for our blog this week, I hope you enjoy reading it and if you have any question, doubt or just something to comment, don’t be shy on writing it in the comments’ section, we will be very happy of answers all of your comments. Thank
you and see you next week ;)
