WEEK 7: ANALYST ROLE #soyer17/18

Hi, I am Diego and this week I am the analyst of my group: Universal Teachers. The topic for this week has been: Comic-life summarizing resources. We had to choose a type of comic and to write one with the 10 concepts that we considered more important from the entire subject. We chose a before/after perspective, one that I consider very interesting and funny. The best thing about this task was the workgroup because as we were doing the pictures for the task, we were developing as a group, creating many funny pictures and creating a lot of situations that will be remembered in the future. Actually, I think that this task has been important, not only for remembering all the important concepts but also for remembering all the good moments that we have had during these 3 months, we have laughed, we have argued each other but the most important thing from all of these is that those moments make our life special.  I recognize that my time in university wouldn’t be the same wit...

WEEK 6. PRESENTATIONS #soyer1718

Hello everyone! I am Maravillas and this week I am the star of the group. Here you have all presentations of our classmates. All of them are wonderful, well done! https://view.genial.ly/5aa193dbb13ff079ed447f5c/the-darks-side-of-textbooks

WEEK 6: FACILITATOR ROLE #soyer1718

Hello everyone! I am María José and I am the facilitator of the activity "The dark side of textbooks". My main objective has been to try to organize the work of each of my workmates, in addition to being able to help in any way possible, as long as my classmates had any kind of doubt about the tasks they had to carry out or any of the roles they should play. This week, the work has been hard, since there were many tasks to do, and also very little time to do a good job, although I think the scales of this week have been positive. I hope you have performed my role as best as possible and have contributed positively to this task. I hope you have enjoyed our activity since we have developed it with great effort. See you next week! María José Valera López.

WEEK 6. ANALYST ROLE #soyer17/18

Hey there! It's Lola, and I'm the analyst this week. During this week we have learned a lot about the disadvantages of using textbooks, this is a great topic because nowadays teachers look so dependant from them and learning about their bad facts will make us change our vision about them and become more innovative when we become teachers. We exposed our work in some innovative ways that can also give us ideas to apply them in our future classes. I believe that the best part of the activity was seeing our star performing because we have seen all our work during the week reflected visually and orally. Sadly we also had some confrontations when thinking about the details of the fable, I think it happened because we all thought our ideas were the best and we should consider each other's ideas too, we must take that into account for next week, I think that we should work more equally because some members of the group have worked some more than others and that may be not ...

WEEK 6. TRANSLATOR ROLE #soyer17/18

Imagen
Hi there, I'm Roberto and this week I am the translator. The following concepts are related to the dark side of books and as you can see, they are related each other. Lack of motivation : Students who are not engaged to the lessons tend to feel unmotivated because they are not interested in what the teacher is saying. The only use of textbooks makes classes boring and not attractive for children who easily get distracted. As a consequence, teacher feel frustrated and very unmotivated because he cannot show what he is able to do as a teacher, he feels he is not professional enough. As a result, he feels his students are not learning and he ends up with suffering burnout syndrome. Unprofessional : In this context, it is referred to the feeling or appearance that some teachers show when they only use a textbook as a learning resource. It is said that textbooks, in general, don't allow teacher to be creative and as a result, teacher feel frustrated because he or she can...

WEEK 6: JOURNALIST ROLE #soyer1718

Imagen
Hi and welcome back! This is Yassín speaking, and this week I'm the journalist of our group. So this week's role were: - Facilitator: María José Valera López. - Star: Maravillas Álvarez Sánchez. - Translator: Roberto Jara Mira. - Curator-Farmer: Diego Asís Berenguer. - Analyst: Lola Rubio Alberca - Journalist: Yassín Hammalil Nájera So, how did this week go? Well, our task this week was a very fun, making either a fable, infography or twitter thread that consists on "the dark side of textbooks". We immediantly chose to make a fable because we thought that we could make something cool and creative with all this freedom, we also chose to a kind of comic to support the fable itself. María José, our facilitator, divided the work in the following way: Diego, Roberto and Yassín took care of writing the script of the fable, Maravillas had to get ready for her presentation and Lola and María José took care of the crafting.  The fable we created, in a ...

WEEK 5: PROJECTION TABLE (technical difficulties fixed) #soyer1718

How's it going! We got some news even though they are late. We have faced even more difficulties with linking our documents to the blog this week, just like with Week 4! However, we found a solution for it again, and hopefully it won't happen ever again :) . So, without further ado, here is a link to our table which compares three types of projections, Azimuthal, Robinson and Mercator: Link:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bwi-gbeiPrTHRE8tR2syRWlPUnhLRTRYTXVXZXcwWDA0aGI4

WEEK 5: JOURNALIST ROLE #soyer1718

Imagen
Welcome dear readers one time more in this new week in our blog. I am Maravillas Álvarez Sánchez, and this week I am the journalist, so I am going to tell you that we are doing, and we are learning in this lovely week. This week we have the next roles: -Yassín: Facilitator. -María José: Star and Translator. -Diego: Star and Translator. -Lola: Curator-Former. -Roberto: Analyst. -Maravillas: Journalist. This fifth week seems to be so hard, because we have to do several tasks and expositions, but I know that Universal teachers and the rest of the groups can successfully overcome it. After the explanation of out teacher, our group started to work with the new roles of the week. First of all, Yassín the facilitator divided the work in pairs in order to make the task easier. Diego and María José were working in the comparison of the countries and the exposition, because this week they are the stars of the group. Yassín and Roberto were doing the table of the different m...

TASK 5: OUR PRESENTATION #soyer17/18

Hi there! Here you can check the presentation used this week to support our topic: map projections, treasure hunts and, the most interesting one in my humble opinion, whether or not media is neutral (which obviously isn't!). This slideshow is only using images, no text to be found, which made it a bit more challenging for this week's wonderful stars: Diego and María José. WEEK 5: TRANSLATOR ROLE #soyer17/18

Hi! Welcome to a new week here in our blog. We are Maria Jose and Diego, playing the roles of translators together this week. After working in the topic of this week, we are going to define the 5 concepts we consider more important. MERCATOR’S MODEL OF PROJECTION : This projection is probably the most famous of all projections, and it takes the name of its creator, who created it in 1569. It is a cylindrical projection that has no distortions in the area of the equator. One of the characteristics of this projection is that the representation of a line with a constant direction is drawn completely straight. In this way, to navigate from one place to another, you just have to connect the departure and destination points with a straight line, which allows you to keep the course constant throughout the whole trip. This Projection is usually used to represent the world maps, but the distortions it creates in the Polar Regions are quite big, giving the false impression that Greenland an...

WEEK 5. ANALYST ROLE #soyer17/18

WEEK 5: TREASURE HUNT AND CARTOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS Hi everyone! I am Roberto Jara and this week my role is the analyst. Before making a reflection about if media are neutral of not I would like to make a brief summary about how our work has been done this week. First of all, I think that the best part of the activity was the freedom to choose the type of presentation we wanted to do because you can do the task the way you consider best. I have to admit that one of the stars of the week , performed really well, in spite of the fact that it was the first for her talking in front of a big audience. The worst part was that we did not know very well what we had to do till Linda explained us in the classroom. It seemed to be very very hard, but finally, was really funny. Being honest, the best part of the week is on Monday morning when we know what is the role we have to develop and presenting ideas before working. Later, we start doing things. If you asked me what...

WEEK 4: Both presentations from our task.

Hey guys, Yassín here. This forth week has been pretty rough in the last couple of days. We were trying to upload our two presentations that we made to SlideShare as we were told to, but some technical difficulties arose and we couldn't upload one of them for some reason. After talking to our teacher she told us to just upload a Google Drive link to the missing presentation, and so we've done! I know this is technically week 5 but let's be honest, I stayed the whole weekend worried sick about this issue, and now I can get some inner peace (at least until Wednesday), so here it goes! The first link will take you to our SlideShare where we uploaded our first presentation about social network security, the presentation which yours truly presented as the group's star for the week. The second one will be in Google Drive and it's the presentation about Creative Commons and tips to become good at presenting. Social security for children:  https://www.slideshare.ne...

WEEK 4. FACILITATOR ROLE #soyer1718

Hey there! How are you guys doing? I'm Lola Rubio and this week I've been Universal Teacher's facilitator. My main  objective  has been to organize the group work, by dividing tasks and coordinating the members of the group with each other. I started analyzing what the task consisted of, after that, the work we were meant to develop was  split   into  little tasks so each one of us could focus  on  different aspects to  maximize  our efficiency and later on contrast our performance and make it a united work. My  responsibility  in the group was big, so I made sure all the steps we had to make were being followed, I supervised everyone's work, reviewed the tasks, and gave my personal opinion introducing some changes in the presentations in order to improve the final result. I believe our team had me as a person that is willing to help whenever possible and give the best out of me to make a good performance. I really enjoyed t...
